The Unknown Future

With my 3-Month contract set to expire at the end of July, I had been pursuing a job very strongly these past few weeks in hopes of securing something long-term going forward, outside of BDa. After 3 interviews I am thrilled to announce I landed what can only be described as, "my dream job" or "the perfect job made for me".  After a week off I will start some orientation/on-boarding with my new job, but first a little unplanned vacation with my hubby!

About a month ago D had a really promising opportunity for a new job an old friend brought to him. In fact we were all so sure he'd get the job, that after much deliberation D put in his 3-weeks notice at BDa, (this would secure him all his hard earned PTO to be paid out when he left). Well the job we were 99.9% sure he'd get, he didn't. It was a tough blow and even though the circumstances were out of our control it still took a few days for him to recover from the rejection. After that we went back and forth for about a week on the decision for him to try and extend at BDa or follow through and leave with me at the end of the month. 

Many long, heated, conversations later we both agreed he should stick with the plan to leave. Years of feeling stuck in an industry he had no desire to advance in (i.e. sales) and it is time for him to move on. It's interesting, we know of at least 4 other people in the past few years who have left BDa without anything new lined up...and they were all happier and more at peace after they left. So we knew come Friday afternoon that we had made the right choice.

This week we plan to enjoy the summer, maybe go find a You-Pick berry spot, lounge by the pool, go for walks around town, and just enjoy our time together. D is of course still looking for work, spreading the word to anyone who might know of an open position he'd be interested in and qualified for. And even though it's only been two days the mood in our home has never been lighter :) We are not sure what the future looks like for D and his job, he still talks about going back to school in the fall as well...but we are sure of one thing, being in it together is the only way we wanna go!!
